OBJECTIVES
RoboCer3D project aims the development of an additive manufacturing technology for porcelain tableware products by “Robocasting 3D” (R3D). Up to now the application of that new technology for porcelain ware is not known, thus the development methodology is needed starting on tailoring the characteristics of the body/suspension and the equipment set-up. Shaping freedom capacity with additive manufacturing technologies, in this case R3D, makes possible the production of parts with shapes and functionalities that are not possible by the conventional production techniques. The reproducibility and precision computerized control of the design will turn the ceramics industry more competitive the ceramics industry in high added value markets, both national and export. The work plan includes the study and the development of porcelain body formulations based on Costa Verde body targeting the most adequate physical properties for R3D. Then, the shaping process by R3D will be developed with an optimization of the process parameters, followed by the firing and glazing tuning. All planned testing aims to maximize the technology capabilities for the ceramic processing.
